Motorbike accesory/jacket gift for boyfriend? Sugestions please?
My boyfriends birthday is at the end of this month and as usual I have left it until the last minute to get him anything!! He has a much loved new GXR750 and I was thinking of buying him a new (not ebay please) top of the range winter leather jacket. Something probably suitable for touring. Any suggestions on the best, safest & most durable brands and cheapest sites to buy accessories from?
Also, if not a jacket are there any new top of the range bike accessories to hit the market? He loves his accessories!
Very subjective but in all my 25 plus years on bikes I honestly would not select leather as my choice for a winter jacket. They are the devils own to get water proof and are generally short so ride up your back a little, especially when haunched over something like a GSXR and thus the wind goes rattling up the back. There are some really smart looking all weather cordura style jackets on the market. I have one from Spidi that I have used for fifteen plus years and it is the mutts nutts.
If not a jacket then I can seriously recommend that you take a look at Kriega back packs 9 Http://www.kriega.com. They are designed by bikers, for bikers and are absolutely BRILLIANT. They have a ten year warranty and I say to you hand on heart, I use mine every single day on the bike, loaded to the gunnel’s and it is designed so well that you easily forget that it is on.
Another suggestion and winter related is the again brilliant layered clothing system from EDZ. http://www.edz.biz . This stuff is also fantastic and the inner shell items work so incredibly well yet roll up absolutely tiny that you can leave them under the bike seat.
How about a pair of kevlar lined jeans – http://www.dragginjeans.net will show you the styles and contacts to the local dealer. Pricey but again top notch.
