There have been many misunderstandings about what type of skin is higher for a jacket, a buffalo hide or cowhide. Now buff they use leather jacket from Water Buffalo, and not the American bison. In its natural state, a buffalo hide is thicker than cowhide.
However, they do not use the full thickness of skin when they make leather jackets. Both with a cowhide and buffalo they actually split the skin layers. The layer had the hair on the so-called top grain, other layers are called grains of Split. Most quality jackets motorcycle leather use of leather is between 1.5 mm and 2.0 mm in thickness.
When they treat every skin type, they have distribution about the same thickness. So they both have the same thickness! So there is no truth that a jacket buffalo hide is thicker as a jacket in leather. You will find these two different types of jackets that are different thicknesses depending on the quality of the brand and if it is upper division or grain cereals. But two comparable leather jackets made from buffalo hide and cowhide are the same thickness.
A buffalo is stronger than a motorcycle jacket leather cow hide is the next question. After they process the leather skins, a skin Bison is actually a bit softer than cowhide. A buffalo skin and cows are really almost the same as far as toughness and ability to resist cuts and punctures. In its natural state on a buffalo skin is thicker, so it can withstand more abuse.
But as I already explained, once they split the hide and turn it into leather, they have the same thickness. Thus, both a buffalo hide and cowhide are the same the strength and durability. I know that many people do not think so, but it's true. If you get a motorcycle jacket leather and want more Hard skin type, at once gives equal protection.
In fact pigskin is also a very strong and hard to hide who is almost as durable as the two others. Some even prefer pigskin, as it seems a little softer and more flexible than others.
What is more important is to get a start, full grain leather jacket rather than a single grain of Split. A top grain leather jacket cowhide will be thicker a buffalo split leather jacket grain and reverse is also true. So if you get a start, the full grain buffalo hide or jacket motorcycle leather, you chose the best leather jacket, you can find. Both are strong and can take much punishment.
